All 3rd and 4th grade students are required to complete a science fair project. This is an opportunity for students to use the scientific method on something that they are interested. In science lab, students will be doing a class project together so the students will be familiar with the scientific process and what is expected for each part of the project. Students will be responsible for completing their own project at home.
Below, you will find the materials that will be sent home with your student. Ask your child about these materials. Click on the links below to see the information.
If your child needs help, Mrs. Youngblood (Science Lab Teacher) will be available in the mornings from 7:15 – 7:40 on Tuesdays (4th) and Thursday (3rd) and either grade on Fridays.
This slide show helps parents understand the parts of the science fair. This is what is presented at our Science Fair Parent Information night

The journal is where students will show all of their work and thinking. Students should have the parts of the journal completed by the deadline on the timeline.
El diario es el lugar donde los estudiantes mostrarán todo su trabajo y sus reflexiones. Los estudiantes deben completar las partes del diario antes de la fecha límite indicada en el cronograma.
This document has guidelines to help create your display board for the science fair project
This will help you know how to set up your display board for your project.
This is a list of 200 science fair project ideas. Some projects are better than others. You and your child should discuss which project they are interested in, that you have the materials for or are willing to purchase, and if it can be done in a reasonable amount of time. The project idea will need to be approved by the teacher. The science project idea does NOT have to come from this list.
This website is very helpful when it comes to finding a project and it even walks you through some of the pieces of the project, like materials, a sample procedure, etc.
