Car Rider Dismissal Procedures

We have many students that get home by car and due to this the traffic occasionally gets backed up.  We ask for your patience as we make every effort to keep your children safe while dismissing them and getting them to you as quickly as possible.  We would like to take this time to remind you of a few things regarding car rider dismissal.

  •  Entering the Line—When getting in line to pick up your student, please remember that the line starts on Kingspoint and extends to the East bound side of Fuqua. We have many parents that wait patiently, so please join the end of the line. Do not cut through the       school parking lot to join the line. Only a left turn can be made from Kingspoint into the school parking lot.
  •  Car Tags—It is imperative that you or the person picking up your child have a car tag with the name of each child that is being picked up. If you are picking up more than one child, please have all names listed on one tag. If someone other than the “regular” driver is picking up your child, they must also have a tag. If they do not, please have them arrive before dismissal to present I.D. in the office and get a tag. You may also contact your child’s teacher and request that extra tags be sent home for those family members or friends who might be picking up your child.  We understand that unexpected things happen but our ultimate concern is the safety of our students, so if you don’t have a tag, you will be asked to park and go to the office to get one.
  • Cone Numbers—When the students are called to a cone, they are sent to a specific numbered cone (1-8).  Please follow the flow of traffic to reach the cone to which your child is assigned. We have Extended Day on Monday and Wednesday for our Third and Fourth       Grade students. Due to a shortage of teachers on these days, we will only use cones
  • Exiting the Parking Lot—If you are exiting on the Kingspoint side, please remember that you may only make a right turn out of the parking lot at dismissal. When exiting the Buena Park side, please be cautious of the traffic and our student walkers.
Thank you for your cooperation regarding our afternoon dismissal. Please keep in mind that it is illegal to be on a cell phone in a school zone. We ask that you adhere to this state law for your child’s safety, as well as the safety of other children, parents, yourself and staff members.  If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher.
